Kennesaw Dental Implants
The specific steps involved in restoring a smile with dental implants may vary from one patient to the next. Due to the fact that each individual has different needs associated with restoring their smile, the process for fulfilling those needs is different as well. Most commonly, the process consists of:
1. Free Consultation
During your free consultation, our doctors will examine the health of your gums and the density of your jawbone. Based on these assessments, we will determine if there is a need for preliminary treatment, such as bone grafting, before moving forward.
2. Implant Placement
Upon approval, you will be scheduled for surgical implant placement. During this step, a titanium rod will be embedded into your jawbone. As the rod fuses with the bone, it will serve as an anchor for the full restoration.
3. Healing Time
Following the surgery, the healing process for your jaw will take between four and six months. There should be little or no discomfort during this recovery period.
5. Restore Smile
4. Abutment Placement
An abutment will be connected to the titanium rod once the area of surrounding tissue has healed. This also provides time for the implant to fuse with the jawbone, creating a stable bond.
